The official website for Wakame Konbu‘s romcom manga, The Maid I Hired Recently is Suspicious, announced on Tuesday May 17, 2022, that the manga will be getting an anime adaptation which will premiere in July 2022. The anime will star voice actresses Saori Hayami as Yuri and Rie Takahashi as suspicious maid Lilith.

A teaser video and a key visual was unveiled with the announcement.

Original author Wakame Konbu unveiled a new illustration to commemorate the TV anime broadcast announcement.

Voice actresses Saori Hayami and Rie Takahashi also commented on the broadcast decision.

“The title says ‘suspicious’, but I thought the contents were basically peaceful and smiling. There are a lot of comical scenes that make me happy to read, and I’m also curious about the slightly mysterious part that underlies it.
At the beginning of the dubbing, the director told me that he wanted to make a warm and heartful work. I’m really looking forward to seeing the interaction between Yuri and Lilith and the atmosphere of the mansion that will be the stage in the video,” said Hayami.

Takahashi commented, “First of all, the pictures and facial expressions are cute! It is suspiciously cute and impressive that Lilith’s eyes were drawn in deep purple in every frame. The interaction between the two people is full of awe. I’m also worried about choosing words that are too straight for a master’s kid. I want to keep an eye on this warm daily life and let Lilith and her master both make me feel excited.”

The anime will premiere on 24 stations(ANiMAZiNG !!! frame) in Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and TV Asahi’s network in July.

Mirai Minato is credited as the anime’s chief director and is also in charge of the series scripts. Misuzu Hoshino is the anime’s director, and the animation studios are SILVER LINK. and BLADE. The assistant director is Yūshi Ibe. The characters are designed by Machi Yoshino. As music composers, Kōji Fujimoto (sus4 Inc.) and Osamu Sasaki return from Konbu’s other manga The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! anime’s production.

The Maid I Hired Recently Is Mysterious (Saikin Yatotta Meido ga Ayashii) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Wakame Konbu. The series began as a webcomic in 2019, before beginning serialization in Square Enix’s Monthly Gangan Joker magazine in January 2020. The series has been compiled into five tankōbon volumes as of February 2022.

Yen Press licensed the manga and is releasing it in English. The company describes the manga:

I hired a maid who has something about her I just can’t put my finger on. Sure, she looks great and is a fabulous cook, but something about her’s not quite right. What have I gotten myself into!?
