The fourth season of Re:Zero is officially set to premiere in April 2026, with the announcement arriving alongside the anime’s first trailer and key visual.
The reveal also introduces a major new character, Reid Astrea, who will be voiced by veteran actor Tomokazu Sugita.
Sugita commented on stepping into the role, noting the character’s intensity and the excitement surrounding the challenge, stating, “Who could possibly bind this man? Even I feel as though the reins may coil around my neck and drag me along. I cannot deny the thrill that exists alongside that fear. Everyone, please be careful. And thank you for your support.”
Reid Astrea’s legacy stretches back four centuries. Revered as the founder of the Astrea family, he is one of the three heroes who once saved the Kingdom of Lugunica. His strong personality and incredible sword skills made him a figure many swordsmen have admired throughout history.

The official plot of Re:Zero Season 4 is described as follows –
Even after securing a hard-fought victory in the deadly battle in the Water Gate City Pristella, the price Subaru and his allies paid was immense. Rem remained asleep due to the authority of “Gluttony,” Crusch had her memories stolen, and Julius was stripped of his name.
As they searched for clues to save them, Subaru learned of Shaula the “Sage,” said to foresee everything and possess all knowledge. Their next destination: the Pleiades Observation Tower, where the Sage resides. This remote tower stands tall in the Auguria Dunes, a vast desert that even the strongest “Sword Saint” Reinhard couldn’t conquer.
Battling rampant nature, unknown magical beasts, and unimaginable threats, the boy’s life-risking journey to reclaim everything with his comrades begins.
White Fox will be returning to animate the fourth season, with key staff and cast members also expected to return.
Based on the light novels written by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shinichiro Otsuka, the franchise has surpassed 13 million copies in circulation under KADOKAWA’s MF Bunko J imprint. The anime first aired in 2016, with subsequent seasons releasing in 2020–2021 and 2024–2025.
