Rent-a-Girlfriend Crowdfunding Campaign Reaches Its Goal In 25 Minutes

The advertisement will feature life-sized illustrations of the four main female characters with a thank-you note for crowd funders.

Author Reiji Miyajima revealed on Sunday, Feb 27, 2022, that the crowdfunding ad for Kanojo, Okarishimasu (Rent A Girlfriend) reached its goal of 6 million yen ( about $52,000 ) just 25 minutes after it was launched.

The campaign has already hit over 8.1 million yen as of writing the article.

Miyajima launched the crowdfunding campaign on Campfire to pay for an advertisement inside Tokyo’s Shibuya Station to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the Rent-a-Girlfriend manga in July 2022 and the upcoming second season of the TV anime adaptation.

Through this, he also wanted to experience the emotions of the main character Kazuya Kinoshita, who ran his own crowdfunding campaign in one of the Rent-a-Girlfriend manga series’ arcs.

The advertisement will run for one week on the Hachiko 2 board, just inside the JR Shibuya Station corridor from Hachiko Square, between July and September of this year. It will feature life-sized illustrations of the four main female characters with a thank-you note for crowd funders.

Since advertising in Shibuya’s key thoroughfares can be highly expensive due to high demand, the author took this opportunity to open his first crowdfunding.

He will not only set up an ad but also produce crowdfunding limited goods and illustrations that he couldn’t put out before.
