Ranking Of Kings Manga’s English Release Gets Suspended Temporarily

BookLive apologized to the readers and the original author admitting mismanagement on their side.

BookLive, a digital bookstore of Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. rolled out a notice on Thursday, March 31, 2022, announcing the English version of Sōsuke Tōka‘s Ranking of Kings manga volume 1-7 distribution will be temporarily suspended.

The distributor revealed that the manga is suspended to fix typographical errors and poor translations pointed out by readers after its distribution started on Feb 18, 2022. BookLive apologized to the readers and the original author admitting mismanagement on their side.

“This situation was caused by the inadequacies of BookLive Co., Ltd., which is in charge of distributing the English version of ‘Ranking of Kings’ in the management and confirmation of translated content. We are very sorry that we have distributed the English version that may have spoiled the image of ‘Ranking of Kings’. Moreover, we deeply apologize to all the readers who have been supporting ‘Ranking of Kings’, the original author Mr. Sousuke Toka and all related parties for the inconvenience and concern caused by this,” wrote BookLive.

Customers who have previously purchased the English versions of the books will be able to download the retranslated version for free once it is reuploaded.

Ranking of Kings is a Japanese fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Sōsuke Tōka. It has been serialized online via Echoes’ user-submitted Manga Hack website since May 2017 and has been collected in twelve tankōbon volumes by Enterbrain.

An anime television series adaptation by Wit Studio aired from October 2021 to March 2022 on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block.
