The official Instagram account of PVR Pictures put out a reel on Dec 31, 2022, teasing the release of Makoto Shinkai’s latest anime film, Suzume no Tojimari in Indian theatres.

The reel starts off by saying that there could be many things behind a door, and then goes on to show the characters from Suzume no Tojimari, including the walking chair, the one eyed cat and the key that opens door, in a very cryptic way.

The reel ends with the caption “We are opening the door to one of the most awaited anime movies of 2023”.

The officially announced story of Suzume no Tojimari is described as:

Suzume is a 17-year-old, who lives in a quiet town in Kyushu. One day, she meets a traveling young man who is looking for a “door.” Suzume decides to follow him and discovers an old door in the ruins in the mountains. As if drawn by something, Suzume reaches out for the door… What follows is Suzume’s liberation and growth as she closes the “doors” that cause misfortune in abandoned places around Japan.
