In a recent press release, PVR Pictures’ CEO Kamal Gianchandani, commented on the encouraging performance of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie in India, saying that it has motivated the distributer to bring more anime content to India.

“We are overwhelmed with the response this film has garnered, and it has motivated us to bring more anime content to India,” the CEO said in the press release.

Gianchandani also assured Indian anime fans that the distributors had a good line-up of content this year.

“We assure all our followers and Indian anime fans that we have a good line up this year. Their requests and suggestions for more films inspire us to do better and keep them happy,” Gianchandani said.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie released in India on June 30, 2022. It managed to collect over ₹5.4 crores at the Indian Box Office over the weekend, setting a benchmark for the distributors when it comes to anime content.

“Since its official release on the 30th of June, there has been no looking behind for the film. PVR Pictures’ commitment to bringing the best of anime to our shores is turning out to be a treat for Indian fans,” the distributors wrote in their press release.

Owing to the positive response, PVR had added more cities and areas where they will be screening Jujutsu Kaisen 0. 

The movie has made around USD $180 million (24.25 Billion Yen), globally, before its release in India.

It was released in over 8000 theatres, selling over 9.9 million tickets. Although, 9.8 million tickets were sold in Japan alone.

Megumi Ogata, Kana Hanazawa, Yuuichi Nakamura, Mikako Komatsu, Tomozaku Seki and Kouki Uchiyama are voicing the main characters Yuta Okkotsu, Rika Orimoto, Gojo Satoru, Maki Zen’in, Panda and Inumaki Toge respectively in Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie is the 4th highest earning anime movie in North America, and 8th highest earning anime movie ever, globally.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, the prequel manga to the main series. It is written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s Jump GIGA magazine from April to July 2017.

After Akutami launched Jujutsu Kaisen in 2018, the series was retroactively retitled Jujutsu Kaisen 0—making it a prequel—and released in a single tankōbon volume in December 2018.
