The RWBY franchise revealed a new key visual on Tuesday, Feb 01, 2022, to tease their upcoming project. While there was no information available regarding this project for fans to go on about, they did make some interesting comparisons.
The new visual shows a character sitting on a throne exuding evil vibes. According to fans this was none other than Weiss Schnee, one of the protagonists of RWBY. The grim setting however prompted them to speculate that this was a darker version of Weiss.
Nevertheless, the character’s updated design led to her being compared to Esdeath from Akame Ga Kill.
RWBY‘s latest project also got a stage event at AnimeJapan 2022. While the lack of any concrete information dejected some fans, others were quick to speculate what the new project could be about.
Everything from an alternate universe for RWBY to a new spin-off manga were suggested in the comments.
Interestingly, the fact that Motoaki Tanigo (YAGOO), the CEO Cover Corporation, followed the official page of the new project made some fans to conclude that this project was a game.
RWBY (pronounced “Ruby”) is an American anime-influenced adult computer-animated web series created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. It is set in the fictional world of Remnant, where young people train to become warriors (called “Huntsmen” and “Huntresses”) to protect their world from monsters called Grimm.
The series has released four seasons till date. It has also been dubbed in Japanese and broadcast by Tokyo MX, in partnership with Warner Bros. Japan. Rooster Teeth released a video game called RWBY: Grimm Eclipse, as well as a spin-off series called RWBY Chibi in 2016.
