Pokémon Gets New Web Anime By WIT Studio; Trailer, Release Date & Synopsis Revealed


In an exciting revelation during the Pokémon Presents livestream on Aug 8, 2023, a brand-new Pokémon web anime was announced.

The new web anime series will be an original story that unfolds in the Pardea region, the stage of “Pokémon Scarlet Violet“.

Titled “Pokémon: Paldean Winds,” the upcoming web anime series is scheduled to run for 4 episodes and will be streamed on the official Pokémon YouTube Channel starting Sep 6, 2023.

An announcement trailer was also revealed during the livestream.

Main characters and their voice cast were also unveiled. They are as follows:

  • Shion Wakayama as Ohara
  • Minako Kotobuki as Aliquis
  • Marin Mizutani as Hohma

Ryouhei Takeshita will be in charge of directing the web anime at WIT Studio, with Takashi Kojima as the character designer. Yuki Funagakure will serve as the art director. Teruko Utsumi and Keisuke Sato will be in charge of scriptwriting. Kevin Penkin will compose the music.

During the presentation, Takato Utsunomiya, the Chief Operating Officer of The Pokémon Company, shed light on the forthcoming series, stating, “This original story will depict the youthful drama of several academy students as they come into their own. Growing and learning as they attend school”.

The plot of Pokémon: Paldean Winds is described as:

The stage of the story is the Pardea region, where humans and Pokemon live together, full of nature.

“I want new students and transfer students to make videos that convey the wonders of the academy.” One day, three students were approached by the principal of the academy, Claver.

Ohara is a modest player who plays the flute well but wants to escape the pressure of a concert. Aliquis, who loves Pokemon battles and is passionate about overthrowing Nemo. A reckless Hohma who is too particular about the special scoop and causes trouble for everyone. They are so busy with themselves that they don’t get along. However, as they face Pokemon and grow, they gradually get along with each other…
