One Piece Manga Reveals 25th Anniversary Special Movie

It features the 3,463 pencil nibs that Oda used to draw the manga till now.

The official website of One Piece manga’s 25th anniversary started streaming a special movie looking back at key moments of the series from it’s 25 years of serialization.

The titled of the video is ‘3,463 adventures’. Eiichiro Oda had used 3,463 pencils to draw the manga and that is what the title depicts.

“This is a story of a cartoonist and 3,463 nibs. A special movie that looks back on the trajectory of 25 years with the huge nib used by Eiichiro Oda,” the description of the video read.

One Piece manga started serializing in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on July 22, 1997. As of today, the manga is celebrating 25 years of its serialization.

July 22 is also celebrated as the One Piece day in order to commemorate the beginning of the manga’s serialization.

A special streaming event has been planned on July 22nd and 23rd for the celebration of One Piece manga’s 25th anniversary among other things.

This includes the previously announced world premiere of the One Piece Film: Red at Nippon Budokan Livestream on July 22, 2022, and One Piece trivia battles, unveiling of the Jinbei statue at Kumamoto prefecture, an information section, etc., on July 23, 2022.

Oda had announced on June 7, 2022, that One Piece manga will go on a month long hiatus starting from issue #30 of Weekly Shonen Jump releasing on June 27. The manga will resume and start its final arc in the 34th issue, which will go on sale on July 25.

Oda will be using the break to “reorganize the last arc”.

The first chapter of One Piece manga was published on July 22, 1997 in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. As of June 27, the manga has released 1053 chapters and 102 volumes.

One Piece was the best-selling manga for eleven consecutive years from 2008 to 2018 and is the only manga that had an initial print of volumes of above 3 million continuously for more than 10 years.

It is also the only manga that has achieved more than 1 million copies sold in all of its 100 published tankobon volumes.
