The One Piece franchise is set to expand with a new anime series adapting the One Piece HEROINES novel, putting the spotlight on the series’ female characters.

The announcement was made during the live-streamed One Piece Day 2025 event on Aug 10, 2025, shared through the franchise’s official X account.

The upcoming One Piece HEROINES anime will adapt the novel serialized in One Piece magazine, written by Jun Esaka and illustrated by Sayaka Suwa. The stories highlight characters like Nami, Nico Robin, Vivi, and Boa Hancock, exploring moments outside the main plot.

While details such as release date, format, and episode count have yet to be revealed, the announcement teased that the adaptation will “depict the charm of the heroines not seen in the main story”.

The One Piece HEROINES novel was originally published as a series of short stories in One Piece magazine before being collected into a standalone volume. Each chapter centers on a different heroine.

The One Piece Day livestream also revealed a first-look video of the One Piece live-action series’ second season, while confirming that a third season is already in production.

This isn’t the only new anime project for the franchise. A remake of the original series, titled The One Piece, by WIT Studio is also under production.
