One Piece Film Red’s World Premiere To Be Held On July 22

July 22 is celebrated as One Piece Day, to mark the release of the first chapter of the series.

The official website of One Piece Film: Red announced that the world premiere of the movie will be held at Tokyo’s Nippon Budokan on Friday, July 22, 2022.

A stage event, attended by Mayumi Tanaka and other cast members who voice the Straw Hat Pirates, will be held prior to the screening of the film. Tanaka voices Monkey D. Luffy in the anime.

The application for visitors to get an invitation to the One Piece Film: Red world premiere will be available in issue #27 of Weekly Shonen Jump and on the official website of the movie starting today, June 6, 2022. Fans can also apply for the invitation on the Shonen Jump+ app from June 13, 2022.

The last date for application is June 26.

The world premiere date of One Piece Film: Red, July 22, is also celebrated as One Piece day, to commemorate the release of the first chapter of the manga published on July 22, 1997. It was established as an official anniversary by the Japan Anniversary Association in 2017.

One Piece Film: Red, which is the fourth instalment in the One Piece Film franchise, is set to release in Japan on Aug 6, 2022. The release schedule for other countries may vary depending on their location.

Goro Taniguchi returns to the franchise for the first time since 1998 to direct One Piece Film: Red. Tsutomu Kuroiwa will be in charge of the screenplay. Toei Animation is animating the film with original author Eiichiro Oda serving as executive producer.

The movie features and centers on the mysterious character Uta, who is teased to be Shanks daughter in the teaser. Uta’s character design was revealed on March 28, 2022. One Piece Film: Red also unveiled character visuals for the marines and the world government characters recently.

As of April 2022, the manga’s chapters have been collected into 102 tankobon volumes.
