In its bull run of 10 days and counting, One Piece Film Red has made over 7 billion yen with more than 5 million tickets sold. The movie has become the highest grossing movie of the franchise surpassing One Piece Film Z in terms of ticket sales as well as revenue generated.
The One Piece Film Red is released in IMAX, MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Atmos. The movie will be released in US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand this fall and will release in India in October.
The movie will be available in Japanese audio with English subtitles as well as in English dub.
One Piece Film: Red, which is the fourth instalment in the One Piece Film franchise, released in Japan on Aug 6, 2022. It earned over 2.2 billion yen on its opening weekend that is Aug 6 and Aug 7. Additionally, it sold over 1.58 million tickets in the opening weekend.
Furthermore, it sold over 3.6 million tickets and earned 5 billion yen in 7 days.
The movie’s world premiere was held on July 22, which also celebrated as the One Piece Day
Goro Taniguchi returns to the franchise for the first time since 1998 to direct One Piece Film: Red. Tsutomu Kuroiwa will be in charge of the screenplay. TOEI Animation is animating the film with original author Eiichiro Oda serving as executive producer.
The movie features and centers on the mysterious character Uta, who is teased to be Shanks daughter in the teaser. Uta’s character design was revealed on March 28, 2022.
The movie also became the highest grossing anime film in European country of France.
Filmgoers will also receive a manga “ONE PIECE Comics-Volume 4 billion RED“. The comic will feature various character settings, story settings, music information in the film, etc. The manga will have limited number copies (3 million).
