One Piece franchise has once again set a new Guinness World Record, this time for the most DVDs released by a serial anime TV program.
The announcement was made during the second day of the ONE PIECE DAY ’24 event on Aug 11, 2024.
During a live recording of Nippon Broadcasting System’s radio program Mugiwara Space, which airs every Sunday at 1:00 AM (JST), the voice cast of One Piece made an appearance.
At the event, it was revealed that the One Piece anime, with its 300th DVD release, had officially earned the Guinness World Record title for the most DVDs released by a serial anime TV program.
The 300th DVD set, containing episodes 1086-1088 of the anime, was released on July 3, 2024.
Mayumi Tanaka, the voice actress for the main character Luffy, received the certificate on behalf of the cast, followed by a commemorative photo to mark the occasion.

One Piece is based on the legendary and ongoing manga of the same name, authored by Eiichiro Oda. The manga itself holds the Guinness Record for the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author. This record was first verified in 2015 and confirmed again in 2022.
The One Piece anime began airing on Oct. 20, 1999, nearly two years after the manga debuted. Since then, it has become one of the most iconic anime series in history establishing a legendary status for itself.
A remake of the anime by WIT Studio, titled THE ONE PIECE, is currently under production. The staff members and first look of the anime was also revealed during the ONE PIECE DAY ’24 event.
