Oda Draws Sunny In A Bounty Poster To Commemorate Film Red Earning 17 Billion Yen

The poster mentions Sunny's bounty, the highest in all of One Piece series.

One Piece Film Red has sailed past several milestones in its ongoing run in theatres. The movie has achieved a new milestone last week of earning 17.1 billion yen. To commemorate this achievement Eiichiro Oda, the author of the original One Piece series drew a poster of Sunny the ship used by Luffy and his crew. The poster mentions Sunny to have a bounty of 17 billion berries, the highest in all of One Piece series.

The 17 billion berries is a shoutout to the 17 billion yen the movie earned at the box office. Check the poster here:

The poster was first released by the official Twitter account of the movie. The movie has sold over 12.31 million tickets and has become the 11th highest grossing movie in Japan as well as the 6th highest grossing anime movie in the country.

The movie although ranks the 11th highest earning movie in Japan it is only behind 5 anime movies in claiming the number 1 anime movie spot.

The five highest-earning anime films above One Piece Film Red on the list are:

The movie opened in Japan on Aug 6, 2022, collecting over 2 billion yen in its first weekend.

PVR Cinemas announced on Aug 26 that they will release the movie in Indian theatres on October 7, 2022.

On Aug 11, PVR cinemas placed standees across multiple theatres in Mumbai revealing that One Piece Film Red will release in India in October 2022.

Crunchyroll has announced on their official website on Sep 12, 2022, that they will be bringing One Piece Red Film to theatres in U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand this November.

The release dates for the regions are as follows:

  • Australia: Nov 3, 2022
  • New Zealand: Nov 3, 2022
  • United States: Nov 4, 2022
  • Canada: Nov 4, 2022

Goro Taniguchi returns to the franchise for the first time since 1998 to direct One Piece Film: Red. Tsutomu Kuroiwa will be in charge of the screenplay. TOEI Animation is animating the film with original author Eiichiro Oda serving as executive producer.

The movie features and centers on the mysterious character Uta, who is teased to be Shanks daughter in the teaser. Uta is voiced by Kaori Nazuka (voice cast) and Ado (singing cast).
