Writer for “ForTheWin” of USA Today and Founder of “The Kicks You Wear”, Michael D. Sykes commented, “To me, it’s an interesting window into the interests of Zion Williamson and other younger NBA players. We’ve seen anime references in custom sneakers and even shoutouts at times during games from players like De’Aaron Fox, but rarely do we get a design directly paying homage to a series. It’s pretty cool to see — especially with it being Naruto. The Six Paths choice here is a solid look.”

In addition, on Tuesday, the NBA player also published a statement on Twitter with an image of him after getting a hand-drawn portrait from Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto!

“Honored to share a one-of-a-kind drawing by Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of Naruto. My interest in anime began at a young age and still inspires me today. Naruto’s motto was to always believe in yourself and everything will work out. #BelieveIt,” the Twitter post wrote.
