New Kinnikuman Anime Reveals Title, Release Date & Other Details


The official Twitter account of the new Kinnikuman anime announced that it will be titled Kinnikuman: Kanpeki Chоojin Shiso-hen (Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc), and is scheduled to start airing in 2024.

A new key featuring Kinnikuman in the ring was revealed to commemorate the announcement.

Production I.G will be handling the animation production.

Akira Sato will serve as the director, with Makoto Fukami handling the series composition. Hirotaka Marufuji is in charge of character designing and Yasuharu Takanashi will compose the music for the new anime adaptation.

Kinnikuman Perfect Origin Arc anime is being developed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the “Kinnikuman” anime series. It will continue the storyline from the previously animated Kinnikuman Throne Arc and will adapt the Perfect Chojin Origin Arc, which is set one-and-half years from the end of the Throne Arc.

The first animated series based on Kinnikuman was produced by Toei Animation and directed by Yasuo Yamayoshi, Takenori Kawada and Tetsuo Imazawa. The 137-episode series was originally broadcast in Japan from April 3, 1983, to Oct 1, 1986.

It was followed by Kinnikuman: Scramble for the Throne, directed by Takeshi Shirato and Atsutoshi Umezawa. This 46-episode series was produced by Toei and aired on Nippon TV from Oct 6, 1991, to Sep 27, 1992.

Kinnikuman is a Japanese manga series created by the duo Yoshinori Nakai and Takashi Shimada, known as Yudetamago.

The manga was originally published in Shueisha’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from 1979 to 1987. It restarted publication in 2011 in Shueisha’s web magazine Shū Play News, and has spawned spin-off manga and anime series, video games, anime films, and several Kinnikuman-related merchandise.

MAL describes the plot of the manga as:

Kinnikuman is a superhero… a bad one. The one day a person named Meat tells Kinnikuman that he is the prince of an alien planet. Kinnikuman must save the day numerous times fighting evil chiyojins and competing in tournaments to prove himself to his family and to gain respect and money.
