Nakitai Watashi wa Neko O Kaburu ( A Whisker Away) Will Stream Globally On Netflix From June 18

Studio Colorido’s second official anime feature film, Nakitai Watashiwa Neko O Kaburu (Wanting to Cry, I Pretend to Be a Cat) announced on Thursday that the movie will debut and stream worldwide on Netflix from June 18th. The movie’s english title has been set to “A Whisker Away.”

The film was originally set to release on June 5 in Japan but got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic fears. A new trailer for the movie was also released on Thursday.

The movie, co-directed by Junichi Sato and Tomotaka Shibayama is about finding one’s true self. It follows Miyo “Muge” Sasaki, a peculiar second-year junior high student who has fallen in love with her classmate Kento Hinode. Muge resolutely pursues Hinode every day, but he takes no notice of her. One day she finds a magical mask which transforms her into a cat named Taro, letting her get close to Hinode, however, the mask would one day make it unable for her to transform back into a human. 

Mirai Shida (The Secret World of Arrietty’s Arrietty, The Wind Rises’ Kayo Horikoshi, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes’ Melissa Shield) is playing Miyo and Tarō. Natsuki Hanae (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba’s Tanjirō Kamado, The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.’s Reita Toritsuka, Digimon Adventure tri.’s Taichi Yagami) is playing Kento, Anime News Network reported.
