The official Twitter account of MyAnimeList announced that they will be resuming their service at 8:00 p.m. PDT on May 12, 2023. As of writing, the animanga database is still 20 hours away from being online.
The cyber attack on MyAnimeList had occurred on May 10, 2023, where the hacker altered all the titles of the anime to ‘LETS ALL LOVE LAIN’.
On May 11, the team identified all the methods used by the attacker and were in the process of securing the system.
“Our team is confident that they have identified all hacking methods used by the attacker and are currently repairing the system.
We expect to exit the emergency maintenance and be live again on: May 12, 2023 at 8:00pm PDT“
MyAnimeList, often abbreviated as MAL, is an anime and manga social networking and social cataloging application website run by volunteers. The site provides its users with a list-like system to organize and score anime and manga. It facilitates finding users who share similar tastes and provides a large database on anime and manga.
As of 2008, the site claimed to have 4.4 million anime and 775,000 manga entries.
