Scheduled to start broadcast from April 9, My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU (Oregairu) season 3 has been delayed due to the spread of novel coronavirus in Japan. As a placeholder, season 2 of the anime will be now broadcast from April 9 in the midnight slot of TBS.
No new release date has been set for the third season of the anime as of now. It will be announced on the official website and twitter handle once it has been decided. We can expect the series to come out sometime in July to August 2020, if the coronavirus fears subside by then.
The news comes as a huge blow for fans who have been eagerly waiting for the release of the latest season of the romantic comedy.
Oregairu (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) is not the only anime to be delayed or postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Yesterday the opening of Violet Evergarden movie was postponed due to the same reason and Re:ZERO, season two which was supposed to release sometime in April was pushed to July 2020.
The season 3 of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU which is also its final season was going under the banner of Sentai Filmworks through HDive.
A state of emergency has been declared in Japan as of Tuesday by prime Minister Shinzo Abe, with the declaration covering the prefectures of Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Osaka, Hyogo, and Fukuoka. The state of emergency will last for a period of one month. The prime minister is reportedly not planning a “lockdown” and plans to “maintain economic and social activities as much as possible,” with public transportation and grocery stores slated to remain open.
As Japan braces to fight against the novel coronavirus, it would only be fair to expect more delays in the anime that were set to stream during the Spring 2020 season.
