The official website of the upcoming anime My Home Hero dropped a brand new key visual on Jan 23, 2023. The visual features Tetsuo Tosu, stepping into the underworld in order to protect his family, along with Kyoichi Majima and Kubo.

Comment:

I’m sorry, but I was reading the original with my emotions invested in Tetsuo, so I didn’t have much of an impression of Shino……. Isn’t Shino too mysterious? We don’t know anything about him at this point, except that he is the organizer of the semi-gangster group and the boss of Kubo, right? To be honest, I envy Suwabe-kun too much for playing Tetsuo! What a fascinating character! Of course I will do my best to play the role of Shino, but I want to put all kinds of emotions into my performance. Please give Shino lots of opportunities to show off! Everyone involved!

• Katsuhiro Tokuishi as Takeda

Comment:

Takeda is one of the oldest members of the organization and a loyal subordinate of Kubo. He is very much aware of Kyoichi, who is young and has made a name for himself.
He is not a good person by any means, but I believe that he is a person who is prepared to put his life on the line, a world from which there is no return once he has set foot in it. I will do my best to express that determination in my voice. Thank you very much for your support!

• Mitsuhiro Sakamaki as Tabata

Comment:

There is none of the “precision and profoundness” that is the impression of this work. Muscular idiot without a shred of intelligence, self-respect, that is Tabata. But as a reader, I think that it is characters like these that make this profound work more interesting to watch.

I hope that everyone watching the anime will enjoy it as much as I do. I would like to share my passion for the work with my co-stars and do whatever I want as Tabata, with the staff holding the reins of the show.

The anime is set to release sometime in April 2023.

My Home Hero, written by Naoki Yamakawa and illustrated by Masashi Asaki, began in Kodansha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Magazine on May 29, 2017. In February 2021, it was announced that the series would reach its climax.

Kodansha has collected its chapters into individual tankōbon volumes. The first volume was released on Sep 6, 2017. As of Feb 4, 2022, seventeen volumes have been released.

MyAnimeList describes the plot of My Home Hero as:

Tetsuo Tosu, an ordinary salaryman, discovers his daughter, Reika, has been physically abused by her boyfriend, Nobuto Matori. Trying to learn more about him, Tetsuo uncovers Matori’s scheme to extort money from Reika’s wealthy grandparents and finds out that he is a member of a crime syndicate, with a history of murdering his former girlfriends.

Filled with rage and fear at the thought of Reika being in danger, Tetsuo ends up killing Nobuto, and with the help of his wife, Kasen, successfully disposes of the body. Now, as the members of the syndicate begin to question Nobuto’s sudden disappearance, Tetsuo and Kasen must work together to ensure the safety of their daughter and prevent her from getting involved in the predicament any further.
