Season 8 of My Hero Academia has been confirmed to be the final season of the anime, and is expected to release in 2025.

While the official announcement is yet to be made, the My Hero Mass Media section from the upcoming Weekly Shonen Jump magazine has been making rounds online, revealing the info on the final season of the anime.

With the manga already completed and the anime set to finish soon, fans have described this news as bittersweet.

The confirmation of a full season instead of a film has left fans relieved that the final chapters of the manga will receive a proper adaptation.

Some had feared that the final story arc might be rushed into a film format, which they felt would have negatively impacted the pacing and the quality of the conclusion.

Many are also expecting the final season to be shorter, with speculation that it will consist of around 13 episodes, similar to the anime’s debut season in 2016.

My Hero Academia season 7 started airing on May 4, 2024. Naomi Nakayama is serving as the director for the seventh season.

My Hero Academia is a manga series written and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi. It was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from July 2014 to Aug 2024, with its chapters collected into 41 tankobon volumes as of August 2024.

The first season aired in Japan from April to June 2016, followed by a second season from April to September 2017, then a third season from April to September 2018, a fourth season from October 2019 to April 2020, a fifth season from March to September 2021, a sixth season from October 2022 to March 2023.

It has also received four animated films, titled My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, and My Hero Academia: You’re Next.
