In an interview with Kodansha’s Comic Days manga website on May 26, 2022, manga author Miko Yasu revealed that Police in a Pod will be going on a temporary hiatus in the Morning magazine after the completion of part 1 of the manga.
The author also mentioned that the reason she is going on a hiatus is to work on a new series.
On June 16, Kodansha will publish the final chapter of the first part of Police in a Pod in the Morning magazine’s 29th issue, and the manga will be put on hold indefinitely.
Regarding the upcoming series, Yasu teased that she has been working on it for the past three years and wants it to be serialized in Morning as well.
In the interview, Yasu revealed that the new protagonist will be a male wielding a sword, as opposed to Police in a Pod‘s which has a female lead with a gun. She also revealed that the series is set in Japan during a “certain historical period”. Kodansha official described the premise to be set in the “most dramatic era” in Japan.
Police in a Pod is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Miko Yasu. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Morning since November 2017. A Japanese television drama adaptation aired on Nippon TV from July to September 2021, and an anime television series adaptation by Madhouse aired from January to March 2022.
Police in a Pod won the 66th Shogakukan Manga Award in the general category in 2021 and the 45th Kodansha Manga Award in the same category in 2022.
