The official Naruto website revealed on Aug 29, 2025, that series creator Masashi Kishimoto has drawn a new collaboration illustration to commemorate the Japanese release of the live-action How To Train Your Dragon film.
The visual features Hiccup and Toothless soaring through the skies alongside Naruto and his toad companion Gamakichi, combining the worlds of the Hidden Leaf Village and Berk.
According to the announcement, the collaboration represents a dream crossover between two globally beloved franchises.
Kishimoto shared a comment with the release of the illustration, praising the original How To Train Your Dragon animated film, which premiered in 2010, as a masterpiece that was highly regarded even among his fellow manga creators.
“The How to Train Your Dragon anime was so incredibly fun that among us manga artists, it’s widely regarded as a masterpiece of the highest caliber.
Now it’s live-action — of course, it’s going to be insanely fun!
The feel of riding on a live-action dragon’s back is multiplied many times over! You can really fly!”
The collaboration comes as How To Train Your Dragon live-action film prepares for its nationwide Japanese release on Sep 5.
