Anime streaming giant Crunchyroll has announced the streaming debut of Makoto Shinkai’s film collection on their platform Nov 18, 2025.
Crunchyroll will exclusively stream all eight films of Shinkai, becoming the first online platform to bring the celebrated director’s works to India officially.
Fans will also be check out the official Hindi dubs of some of the movies from Shinkai’s collection. Check the list below:

- Weathering With You (2019) (Available in Hindi dub for the first time)
- Your Name. (2016) (Available in Hindi dub for the first time)
- The Garden of Words (2013)
- Children Who Chase Lost Voices (2011)
- 5 Centimetres per Second (2007)
- The Place Promised in Our Early Days (2003)
- Voices of a Distant Star (2002)
The movie collection will go live on Crunchyroll on Dec 4, 2025.
Shinkai began his career as a video game animator with Nihon Falcom in 1996, and gained recognition as a filmmaker with the release of the original video animation (OVA) She and Her Cat (1999).
His films Your Name (2016), Weathering with You (2019), and Suzume (2022) are all among the highest-grossing Japanese films of all time, both in Japan and worldwide at the time of their release.
His most recent film, Suzume, was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 81st Golden Globe Awards and received seven nominations at the 51st Annie Awards. It was also nominated in the Best Picture category for the Oscars 2024.
Makoto Shinkai recently hinted that he will be revealing updates on a new movie by the end of 2025. Additionally, 2025 also saw the release of the live-action adaptation of Shinkai’s 5 Centimeters Per Second anime.
