The official website of Kowloon Generic Romance has confirmed that the anime will be released on April 5, 2025.
A new trailer, key visual, and theme song details were revealed alongside the release date.
Japanese music group Wednesday Campanella will perform the opening theme song, “Summertime Ghost,” while singer-songwriter mekakushe will perform the ending theme, “Koi no Retronym” (A Retronym for Love).
Moreover, it was also revealed that Kengo Kawanishi has been cast as Yulong, a researcher investigating the mysteries surrounding Kowloon alongside Hebinuma.
The previously announced voice cast features:
- Haruka Shiraishi as Reiko Kujirai
- Tomokazu Sugita as Hajime Kudo
- Ryotaro Okiayu as Miyuki Hebinuma
- Taito Ban as Tao Gwen
- Aoi Koga as Yaomay
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Xiaohei
Yoshiaki Iwasaki is directing the anime at Arvo Animation, with Jin Tanaka serving as the scriptwriter. Yuka Shibata is in charge of character designs, while Yuji Kaneko serves as the art director.
In addition to the anime adaptation, a live-action film was also announced.
Kowloon Generic Romance first debuted in Weekly Young Jump in 2019, with its chapters collected in 10 tankobon volumes as of October 2024.

MAL describes the plot of the manga as follows:
In the distant future, individuals who adore the old way of life live in Kowloon Walled City—a slum city that serves as a refuge for those who long for the Hong Kong of the past. Realtor Reiko Kujirai, however, craves for the new and exciting places in the area. In contrast, her only coworker, Hajime Kudou, enjoys the nostalgia the city invokes and is put off by anything modern that seeps past its walls. But despite their differing views and constant bickering on the most mundane of things, the two often find themselves enjoying each other’s company.
One day, a prank gone wrong leads Hajime to make an unexpected advance toward Reiko, after which he swiftly apologizes for. Baffled by his actions, Reiko starts investigating for possible explanations, only to discover a past that she has no memory of.
