KonoSuba Anime’s Sequel Officially Announced

A sequel to the KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! anime has been officially announced.

The news was revealed on the official X account of the anime following the release of the new OVA,  Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o! 3 -Bonus Stage-, on March 14.

The OVA, which consists of two unaired episodes, was released in Japanese theaters for a limited two-week run before its Blu-ray Disc and DVD release on April 25.

The unaired episodes are titled “Red Stream Explosion!” and “Nisemono Chui!” (Beware of Fakes!), and reunites the returning cast and staff from the main anime.

KonoSuba season 3 aired from April 10, 2024, to June 19, 2024.

Takaomi Kanasaki served as the chief animation director at Studio Drive for Konosuba season 3, with Yujiro Abe directing the 3rd season. Makoto Uezu was in charge of the script, and Koichi Kikuta as character designer.

Season 1 of the anime adaptation by Studio Deen aired in Japan between January and March 2016. A second season of the anime aired between January and March 2017.

An anime film adaptation by J.C.Staff titled KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! Legend of Crimson premiered on Aug 30, 2019.

A spinoff anime, titled Konosuba: An Explosion On This Wonderful World!, produced by Drive, aired from April 2023 to June 2023

KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on This Wonderful World! is a Japanese light novel series written by Natsume Akatsuki and illustrated by Kurone Mishima.

Originally serialized as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Narō between December 2012 and October 2013, KonoSuba was published as a printed light novel series by Kadokawa Shoten under the company’s Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko imprint from October 2013 to May 2020. The light novel series features a divergent plot and illustrations by Mishima.

A spin-off light novel series, KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!, began publication from July 2014. Both the light novels and the manga are licensed in North America by Yen Press.
