JUMP j Books’ official Twitter handle revealed on Sep 16, 2022, that the first ever novel for the manga Kaiju No.8, titled “Kaiju 8 – Micchaku! Dai-3 Butai,” will be released on Nov 4, 2022. The novel will be written by Keiji Ando and will contain four short stories along with pinups and illustrations by Naoya Matsumoto

The premise of the short stories are as follows:

• After the battle in Sagamihara, the 3rd unit of the defense force is closely interviewed for a documentary.
• What is the grueling obstacle run that Kafka and Reno take on! Kikoru used a phantom special weapon!
• How did Hoshina, who is obsessed with swords, get recruited by Mina?
• And will Kafka be able to conceal his true identity in front of the news crew?

Kaiju No. 8, also known in English as Monster #8, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. It has been serialized for free on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ application and website since July 2020, with its chapters collected in seven tankōbon volumes as of July 2022. Viz Media has licensed the series for English release in North America.

As of August 2022, the manga had over 8 million copies in circulation. The series has been praised for its premise, characters and art.

An anime adaptation of Kaiju No.8 has been recently announced on Aug 5, 2022.
