Crunchyroll has secured the North American theatrical rights for Kaiju No. 8‘s compilation film featuring the events of season 1, titled Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon.
The film is set for a limited release in the United States and Canada on April 13, 14, and 16, 2025, with Sony Pictures Entertainment handling distribution.
It will be available in the original Japanese audio with English subtitles and an English-dubbed version.
The film will first premiere in Japan on March 28, 2025, alongside a special episode titled Hoshina’s Day Off.
Kaiju No. 8 season 1 aired from April 13 to June 29, 2024.
A second season is slated for broadcast in July 2025.
The series was produced by Production I.G, with Studio Khara supervising the kaiju designs and artworks.
Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya directed the season 1, with scripts by Ichiro Okouchi, character designs and chief animation direction by Tetsuya Nishio, art direction by Shinji Kimura and monster designs by Mahiro Maeda.
Kaiju No. 8 is a manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. It has been serialized for free on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ application and website since July 2020, with its chapters collected in thirteen tankobon volumes as of July 2024.
