Following Crunchyroll’s acquisition of Kaiju No. 8’s compilation film for U.S. theatrical release, it was announced on March 17, 2025, that the streaming giant has also acquired the rights for releasing the film in India.
Crunchyroll will bring the film to Indian theatres alongside Sony Pictures Entertainment on April 11, 2025.
It will be available to watch in Japanese audio with English subtitles.
Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon will recap the anime’s first season alongside a special never-before-seen episode titled Hoshina’s Day Off.
The film will first premiere in Japan on March 28, 2025. It will be released for a limited time in the United States and Canada on April 13, 14, and 16, 2025.
Kaiju No. 8 season 1 aired from April 13 to June 29, 2024.
A second season is slated for broadcast in July 2025.
The series was produced by Production I.G, with Studio Khara supervising the kaiju designs and artworks.
Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya directed the season 1, with scripts by Ichiro Okouchi, character designs and chief animation direction by Tetsuya Nishio, art direction by Shinji Kimura and monster designs by Mahiro Maeda.
Kaiju No. 8 is a manga series written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto. It has been serialized for free on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ application and website since July 2020, with its chapters collected in thirteen tankobon volumes as of July 2024.
