Kagurabachi: Chihiro’s Mother Will Be Addressed In A Future Volume, Says Hokazono

Protagonists usually don’t fit into the shounen mold unless their parents are out of the picture. The same can be said for Chihiro Rokuhira, who is on a quest for revenge against the Hishaku – the culprits behind his father’s assassination.

While Chihiro’s father continues to be a prominent figure the story, we can’t say the same for Chihiro’s mother, who is yet to be introduced in Kagurabachi manga.

She has only been mentioned once in the manga – that too by Kunishige in a flashback – calling her logical. The master swordsman felt that Chihiro had the same persona as his mom.

However, in a recent Q&A session at Japan Expo 2024, Kagurabachi‘s author Takeru Hokazono revealed that Chihiro’s mother will be addressed in an upcoming volume. This has given us an interesting aspect to look forward to in the series.

However, that was the only bit of information that Hokazono was ready to divulge regarding Chihiro’s mom, as he refused to reveal even the status of the character.

According to the author, Chihiro’s mother is a mystery and he doesn’t even want to let readers know if she is dead or alive.

This has led to some theories within the fandom, which state that Chihiro’s mom could be a member of the Hishaku and she was involved in the plan to assassinate Rokuhira.

While this theory has been garnering some support, I am holding my horses until we get more crumbs about her in the future.

Despite that, I have an inkling that he definitely will turn out to be significant character, or a character with a significant impact on the story since the author is keen to keep mum on her.
