Jujutsu Kaisen Ranked #1 Among Readers’ Choice Rankings!

The general e-book store BookLive! announced the results of “Readers’ Choice, Don’t Miss it Out! Best 100 Recommended Interesting Manga” 2021 edition. Among the 2,670  total votes, 1st place went to “Jujutsu Kaisen”, followed by “Kingdom” and “Yona of the dawn” for 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

Last year, Jujutsu Kaisen manga raked 53rd. Due to the TV anime broadcast from October 2020 to March 2021 many readers agree that it sparked popularity and made a great leap forward. They are all excited for the movie coming in winter of 2021. Apart from the mysterious plot, heavy action scenes, and individuality of the characters, what became the highlight of the story is the use of “curses”.

Kingdom which ranked 2nd has also received praise such as, “a magnificent story” and “it depicts a spectacular and powerful image of China”. Users heavily emphasized on how attractive the manga looks with all the strategies and psychological warfare.

Finally, in the third-place Yona of the Dawn is highly appreciated for its tone of women empowerment in a world of men. Readers got drawn to the main character Mizuho Kusanagi’s misery. They loved how a naive princess got stronger and cooler with every chapter.

Futhermore, Attack on Titan also got a place in the Top 10 ranking of BookLive! ranking. The manga ranked 4th. The other mangas placed on the Top 10 ranking are:

  • 3rd place: Yona of the Dawn
  • 4th place: Attack on Titan
  • 5th place: The Apothecary of the Pharmacy

The survey method of the ranking was in a questionnaire format sent by mail to the BookLive! members. The survey period was from April 30th (Friday) to May 5th (Wednesday), 2021. The results came out in the special site of the BookLive! website.
