The official twitter account of VIZ Media revealed on Monday, Feb 14, 2022, that it will bring two of Jujutsu Kaisen franchise’s light novels to the United States. The first novel titled Summer of Ashes, Autumn of Dust will release this fall.
Summer of Ashes, Autumn of Dust follows Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro as they tail Satoru Gojo around while their teacher enjoys the unique experiences of Tokyo’s otaku-focused Akihabara district. While all of this is happening, the Curses Mahito, Jogo, and Hanami are busy trying to find a location that would be suitable for their secret base.
The second book of the Jujutsu Kaisen light novels will feature other characters including Toge Inumaki, Mechamaru, and Nobara Kugisaki. The official title hasn’t been revealed yet.
The LNs were written by Ballad Kitaguni and illustrated by original manga creator Gege Akutami.
The first novel “Iku Natsu to Kaeru Aki” was published in Japan in May 2019 while the second one, titled “Yoake no Ibara Michi” was released in January 2020. Each book contains a total of 5 short stories.
Jujutsu Kaisen is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump since March 2018. The Jujutsu Kaisen chapters are collected and published by Shueisha, with eighteen tankōbon volumes released as of December 2021.
The story follows high school student Yuji Itadori as he joins a secret organization of Jujutsu Sorcerers in order to kill a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna, of whom Yuji becomes the host.
A 24-episode anime television series adaptation by MAPPA aired on MBS from October 2020 to March 2021. A movie adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 premiered in Japan in December 2021. The film grossed over 10 billion yen in the Japanese box office 45 since its release on Dec 24, 2021.
A second season for the anime was announced recently. It will premiere sometime in 2023.
