Big Comic Superior Magazine’s issue #14 revealed on June 24, 2022, that Oyasumi Punpun mangaka Inio Asano‘s new manga will start serializing in the magazine this winter.
The name of the manga is yet to be announced.
A teaser image for the new manga was on the announcement page of the magazine.
In response to Comic Natalie’s tweet regarding the serialization of the new manga, Asano wrote that he still hasn’t drawn a single page yet.
“I haven’t drawn a page yet, but maybe it will start in winter!” he wrote.
Asano had earlier revealed an illustration on Twitter which looked similar to the character in the teaser image.
“Various doodles are being drawn. Once the face is decided, the personality will naturally be decided,” he tweeted.
It was previously announced on March that the anime adaptation of Asano’s Dead Dead Demon’s Dededede Destruction manga was under production. Production +h. will be producing the anime.
Inio Asano is a Japanese manga artist. Asano created the acclaimed manga Solanin, which was released as a feature film in Japan in April 2010, starring Aoi Miyazaki. He is also famous for the series Goodnight Punpun.
Known for creating character-driven, realist stories, ranging from slice of life to psychological horror, Asano won first prize in the 2001 GX competition for young manga artists. In 2010, Yomiuri Shimbun described Asano as “one of the voices of his generation.”
