Oyasumi Punpun author Inio Asano’s Downfall manga is getting adapted into a live-action film, which will release in the Japanese theatres on March 17, 2023. More information on the theatre details will be revealed on the official website soon.

The website, which was launched as a part of the live-action adaptation, revealed that Naoto Takenaka will serve as the film’s director.

Main cast details have also been unveiled on the site.

Cast members include:

• Takumi Saitou as Kaoru Fukasawa, a mangaka
• Shuri as Chifuyu, prostitute Kaoru meets
• MEGUMI as Nozomi Machida, Kaoru’s wife and manga editor

Inio Asano drew an illustration to commemorate the live-action film adaptation of Downfall manga on Oct 27, 2022.

Downfall was serialized in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Big Comic Superior from March to July 2017, with its chapters collected in a single tankobon volume.

In North America, the manga was licensed for English release by Viz Media.
