The Haikyu!! x V. League special match that was held at Tokyo on Aug 13, 2022, announced that a new theatrical company called ‘Gekidan Haikyu‘ will focus on performing stage plays based on Haikyu!!.

The inaugural performance of the company will be held sometime in 2023.

The plays performed by Gekidan Haikyu will be directed by Kenta Suga, the actor who played Shoyo Hinata in Hyper Projection Engeki: Haikyu!!.

Suga said in a video comment that as a director he is looking forward to see a new side of Haikyu!! through the stage plays.

“I’m going to have a production! I would like you to experience Haikyu!! through theater. As a director, I’m looking forward to discovering a new side of Haikyu!!,” the director said.

Worry Kinoshita, who directed the stage play Hyper Projection Engeki: Haikyu!!, said he was surprised and delighted when he came to know Suga was announced as the director of the Gekidan Haikyu project.

“I am confident that he will create a stage that will exceed my expectations,” Kinoshita said.

Haikyu!! will be getting a two part final movie, to conclude the series. The movie will be animated by Production I.G., with the plot continuing from the 4th season of the anime.

Haikyu!! is created by Haruichi Furudate and was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2012 to July 2020. The series has over 55 million copies in circulation. It has 45 volumes containing 405 chapters.

The first season of the TV anime aired from April 2014 to September 2014. The second season aired from October 2015 to March 2016. The third season aired from October 2016 to December 2016.

The season 4 of the series aired in two cours, the first cour aired in January 2020 whereas the second cour aired from October to December 2020.
