Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is returning with a new spin-off manga set to debut in Kadokawa’s Comic Newtype magazine in Spring 2025.
Unlike the original series, which unfolded in a space-age setting, the spin-off, which is titled Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury – Seishun Frontier, is a parallel story set in a near-future Japan.
It follows Suletta and Miorine as high school students.
The script is penned by HISADAKE, a member of the creative unit Morion Airlines, who also contributed to the original anime series. Manga artist Hiro Hata will handle both the illustrations and costume design.
HISADAKE shared his excitement about the project, stating, “I’m HISADAKE, responsible for the script. I participated in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury as part of Morion Airlines, providing planning and individual setting support. In this work, I want Suletta and her friends to experience various landscapes of Japan! I hope you enjoy it!“.
Hiro Hata also shared his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m Hiro Hata, in charge of the artwork. I enjoyed watching Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, so I’m thrilled to reunite with Suletta and the others in this spin-off! I’ll pour my heart into the drawings, and I hope you enjoy it!“.
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury is a Japanese mecha anime series and the fifteenth mainline entry in Sunrise’s long-running Gundam franchise. The series is directed by both Hiroshi Kobayashi and Ryo Ando and written by Ichiro Okouchi, and aired from October 2022 to July 2023.
Witch from Mercury is a part of Gundam’s Alternate Universe and doesn’t fit into the main UC timeline for the show. Check out the Gundam anime watch order here.
