The official website of Golden Kamuy live-action film, which was launched on Aug 30, 2023, revealed its very first trailer, along with the release date and star-studded cast members.

Golden Kamuy live-action film is set to release on Jan 19, 2024.

A new key visual, with the tagline “Do You Have a Mission to Fulfill?,” was also revealed along with the trailer.

Cast members announced include:

CREDEUS is in charge of the film’s production. Shigeaki Kubo will serve as the director, with Tsutomu Kuroiwa handling the script. Yutaka Yamada will compose the music for the film.

Golden Kamuy mangaka Satoru Noda has also provided his comment regarding the live-action film adaptation, a rough translation of which can be read below:

“The plan for the live-action adaptation has been in progress for so many years that memories of it have started to fade. I am immensely thankful for everyone who contributed to the original work, and even more so to the countless others who made the live-action adaptation of ‘Golden Kamuy’ possible. As the original creator, I feel a profound sense of gratitude and happiness about its realization. I’ve felt the deep affection that the individuals involved in the live-action project have for ‘Golden Kamuy’.

Personally, I’ve been curious about the props. The Ainu artifacts and costumes have been created by numerous skilled artisans specializing in Ainu traditional crafts, and they truly reflect their expertise. Even items like Sugimoto’s Type 30 rifle are of such quality that they wouldn’t be out of place anywhere.

And then there’s the exceptional cast. I believe that once people watch the actual production, even fans of the original work will come to love the live-action version.

Not just as the original creator, but as a member of the production team, I sincerely hope that many people will enjoy this live-action adaptation.“

Golden Kamuy is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Satoru Noda. It was serialized in Shueisha’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Jump from August 2014 to April 2022, with its chapters collected in thirty-one tankōbon volumes.

An anime television series adaptation produced by Geno Studio aired with two seasons from April to December 2018. A third season aired from October to December 2020. A fourth season produced by Brain’s Base aired from October 2022 to June 2023. A fifth season adapting the manga’s final arc has been announced.
