The official Twitter account for Japanese singer-songwriter and actor, Gen Hoshino announced on Thursday, May 19, 2022, that the music video of his latest digital single song, Comedy, was streamed a total of 5,170,058 times since its release on May 6, 2022.
The song ranked #1 on Oricon‘s weekly digital single streaming list and Billboard JAPAN’s download song chart since its digital release on April 8, 2022. The MV’s behind-the-scenes clip is now also available to stream.
The credit less version of the ED had hit 1 million views within 24 hours of its release.
Previously, Hoshino commented that he made the song while thinking about the meaning of the word “family” and the season of Spring.
“I made it while thinking about the” family “of Loid, Anya, and Yor of” SPY x FAMILY “and the meaning of the word” family. While listening to the completed song, I feel that the song is very suitable for the warm coming season, with the trees growing lush and the flowers blooming,” he said.
Spy × Family is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo. It has been serialized biweekly on Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ application and website since March 2019, with the chapters collected in nine tankōbon volumes as of April 2022.
The manga has exceeded over 350 million reads on the Shonen Jump+ digital platform and over 17 million copies of the collected volumes were printed (physically) and sold (digitally) in Japan.
Viz Media has licensed the series for English release in North America.
According to the recent Oricon sales records, Spy x Family became the best-selling series in Japan in April 2022 with most volumes of the same ranking in the volume-wise sales chart. The sales number is mostly boosted by the release of the anime in Spring 2022.
