Crunchyroll has officially announced that Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 will see a change in director during its panel at Anime Expo 2025.
Tomoya Kitagawa, who previously directed multiple episodes and worked on storyboards in season 1, will now serve as the main director. Keiichiro Saito, who helmed the first season, will return in a supervising role
Crunchyroll also confirmed that it has acquired global streaming rights for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2, excluding Asia. The series will be simulcast as it airs in Japan, with India and the Indian Subcontinent included in the streaming regions.
A trailer was revealed for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season 2 to commemorate the announcement.
Joining Kitagawa on the staff for season 2 are Daiki Harashina as assistant director, Tomohiro Suzuki as series composer, and returning composer Evan Call. The character design team will include Takasemaru, Keisuke Kojima, and Yuri Fujinaka, while Seiko Yoshioka will oversee concept art.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season 2 was announced on Sep 28, 2024.
The second season was once again be produced by Madhouse.
Season 1 of the anime aired from September 2023 to March 2024, with Keiichiro Saito serving as the director, scripts supervised by Tomohiro Suzuki, and character designs handled by Reiko Nagasawa.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End started serializing in Shogakukan’s shonen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday since April 2020, with its chapters collected in 14 tankobon volumes as of March 2025.
By February 2025, the manga had over 24 million copies in circulation.
The series is licensed for English release in North America by Viz Media and in Southeast Asia by Shogakukan Asia.
