Vinland Saga manga’s creator Makoto Yukimura announced on his official Twitter account that the manga will be on a break in this issue’s Monthly Afternoon, which released on Feb 25, 2023, pushing the release date for chapter 200 for a further date.
Yukimura stated that he couldn’t draw well at the moment, but will soon get back on track. He also assured the fans that he is in a perfectly healthy condition, and that he was sorry for frequently taking breaks.

“Good morning.
Today is the release day of Afternoon Moon, but sorry, Vinland Saga is taking a break…. I know my frequent breaks cause you to worry, but I am in perfect health. I just can’t draw well. I can’t draw well…I will get back on track.“
Fans took this news in a positive light, showering the author with words of support and encouragement. They asked the author to not push himself too hard and that they would wait for as long as it takes for the story to come together.
Vinland Saga is a Japanese historical manga series written and illustrated by Makoto Yukimura. The series is published by Kodansha, and was first serialized in the boys youth-targeted manga magazine Weekly Shonen Magazine before moving to the monthly manga magazine Monthly Afternoon, aimed at young adult men.
As of August 2022, Vinland Saga had over 7 million copies in circulation.
As of May 2022, its chapters have been collected in 26 tankobon volumes. Vinland Saga has been licensed for English-language publication by Kodansha USA.
Vinland Saga Season 2 started airing in Japan on Jan 9, 2023, and is broadcast every Monday. It is streamed on Netflix, Crunchyroll and others outside Japan.
Season 1 of the anime, by WIT Studio, premiered on July 7, 2019, to Dec 29, 2019, consisting of 24 episodes.
