Fan Travels 200km To Watch Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie, Only To Find Out It Will Screen In His Local Theatres

Nevertheless, he had a great experience watching the movie.

An ardent anime fan in India travelled almost 200 kms so that he could watch the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0 on the big screen, only to find out that the movie was coming to his local theatre a day late.

Akhil Aftab, a resident of Jammu, was excited for the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie from the day it released in Japan. However, when PVR revealed its initial list of theatres and cities where the movie would screen in India, Jammu was missing from it.

This prompted Aftab to travel almost 200 kms to Jalandhar to watch the movie on the same day it released in the country, i.e June 30, 2022.

He was, however, in for a nasty surprise when he realized that the movie would be coming to theatres in his locality on July 1, 2022.

Though he was a bit bummed, Aftab nevertheless had a great experience watching the movie in theatre.

“My only wish was to watch the anime movie in theatres as I had never gotten an experience to watch an anime movie on the big screen,” he told Animehunch.

“Watching the fans react the same way you do when something happens on the screen and laughing together on funny bits, is the experience I wanted to have and JJK 0 really satisfied me.”

While some were surprised by Aftab’s determination to watch the movie, there were people around him who were shocked and skeptical. However, he gave the naysayers no mind and said that he would do it all over again if needed.

“Some may consider it a waste of money as maybe after some weeks/months it will be available on maybe OTT platforms but to be honest it was worth it for me and I don’t mind doing it again if I had to,” Aftab said.

Aftab added that he loves going on long drives, so he didn’t mind going all the way to Jalandhar to watch the movie.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 released in Indian theatres on June 30, 2022. It has received an amazing response from the anime fans and anime community from India, prompting PVR Pictures to release the movie in more cities in the country.

The movie had reportedly earned around ₹1.5 cr on the first day of its release in the country.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is based on Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, the prequel manga to the main series. It is written and illustrated by Gege Akutami. The manga was serialized in Shueisha’s magazine Jump GIGA from April to July 2017.

After Akutami launched Jujutsu Kaisen in 2018, the series was retroactively retitled Jujutsu Kaisen 0—making it a prequel—and released in a single tankōbon volume in December 2018.
