Sidney Sweeney, who is known for her roles in Euphoria, Immaculate, The White Lotus and others, is reportedly in final talks to play a role in the upcoming live action Gundam film.
Bandai Namco Filmworks Inc. signed a joint investment agreement with Legendary Entertainment in January 2025 for the live-action adaptation.
Tentatively titled GUNDAM, the film will be directed and written by Jim Mickle known for his work on Netflix’s Sweet Tooth. Mickle is also serving as a producer of the movie alongside partner Linda Moran under the banner of their company Nightshade.

To support the production of GUNDAM and further expand the franchise overseas, Bandai Namco Filmworks will establish a new North American subsidiary, Bandai Namco Filmworks America, LLC, on April 1, 2025.
This subsidiary, operating under Bandai Namco Holdings USA Inc., will focus on licensing operations and increasing Gundam’s brand value in international markets.
The movie, which was announced in 2021, had initially roped in Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, with Brian K. Vaughn in charge of writing the scripts.
Mobile Suit Gundam is a Japanese anime television series produced Nippon Sunrise. Created and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, it premiered in Japan on Nagoya Broadcasting Network and its affiliated ANN stations on April 7, 1979, and lasted until Jan 26, 1980, spanning 43 episodes.
Since then, the franchise has expanded into a long-running series, producing 25 TV anime series, 34 theatrical films, 27 OVAs, and numerous streaming, event, and TV special productions.
