Dr. Stone To Get A Stage Play In July 2022

The play will feature plots from the manga including live experiments happening on stage and educational elements.

Boichi and Riichirou Inagaki‘s Dr. Stone manga announced on Monday, May 9, 2022, that the series will be adapted into a stage play. It will be performed at Tokyo’s Sunshine Theatre from July 9-18 and then at the AiiA 2.5 Theatre Kobe in Kobe from July 21-24.

A visual for the stage show was released along with the announcement.

The upcoming play is titled, Dr. STONE The Stage: Science World, and is described as a “Science fantasy drama” curated for both parents’ and children’s amusement.

The play will feature plots from the manga including live experiments happening on stage and educational elements.

Previously announced Dr. STONE Special Episode – RYUSUI will air on Tokyo MX and BS11 in July. The special will be set after the second season and will center on Ryusui. The manga will have a special new chapter around the same time the special airs.

The manga ended on March 7 in the 14th issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump, with the 26th and final volume shipping on July 4.

Dr. Stone, written by Riichiro Inagaki, and illustrated by South Korean artist Boichi, started serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 2017. Its chapters have been collected in twenty-five tankōbon volumes as of March 2022.

The story follows teenage scientific genius Senku Ishigami, who plans to rebuild civilization after humanity was mysteriously petrified for 3,700 years.

Viz Media licensed the manga in North America. Shueisha began to simulpub the series in English on the website and the Shonen Jump and MANGA PLUS apps in January 2019.

An anime television series adaptation by TMS Entertainment aired from July to December 2019. A second season of the anime series focused on the “Stone Wars” arc aired from January to March 2021. A third season is set to premiere in 2023.
