Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021 Takes Over Japanese Box Office Pushing Jujutsu Kaisen To #3

Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021, the 41st feature film in the Doraemon anime franchise, became #1 in the Japanese Box office, earning an astonishing 394 million yen (3.41 million USD) on 322,000 attendance on its first Saturday and Sunday, pushing Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie to #3.

The film premiered on March 4, 2022, after it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, set to release on March 5, 2021.

Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021 (Doraemon: Nobita no Ritoru Sutā Wōzu 2021) is a Japanese science fiction animated film. It is the 41st Doraemon film and serves as a remake of the 1985 film Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film dropped from #1 to #3 on its 11th weekend. The film sold 87,000 tickets to earn 133 million yen (about US$1.15 million) over the weekend.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0‘s total domestic gross has reached 12.39 billion yen (107.3 million USD) with 8.85 million tickets sold in the 73 days since its opening.

The film secured 22nd place among the top-grossing film of all time in Japan, on par with Disney’s 2017 live-action film The Beauty and The Beast.

The Jujutsu Kaisen film had also surpassed Disney’s Aladdin and Hayao Miyazaki’s The Wind Rises‘s sales in the Japanese box office.
