Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021, the 41st feature film in the Doraemon anime franchise, remained #1 in the Japanese Box office for two consecutive weekends, earning an astonishing 281 million yen (2.37 million USD) on 229,000 attendance on its second weekend.
The Doraemon film garnered a cumulative total of 800 million yen and sold 660,000 tickets in two weeks, becoming the top-grossing Japanese anime film of 2022.
The film premiered on March 4, 2022, after it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Doraemon: Nobita’s Little Star Wars 2021 pushed Jujutsu Kaisen 0 for the first time on its 11th weekend to #3. On its 12th weekend, the film dropped to #4, as The Batman debuted at #3 on Friday, March 11, 2022, grossing 247 million yen (2.08 million USD) on its first weekend.
