Doraemon Creator Fujiko Fujio Receives Memorial Project By Shogakukan

Fujio's Manga Michi sequel will recieve a final chapter.

Publishing giant Shogakukan’s Big Comic and Big Comic Original magazines announced on June 10, 2022, that it is holding a memorial project for late manga creator Fujiko Fujio (A) (real name Motoo Abiko).

As a part of the project, the Big Comic Original issue #13 announced to release the final chapter of Ai … Shirisomeshi Koro ni …, a sequel to Fujio’s long-running autobiographical manga Manga Michi. The issue will also post a memorial message from the author for Hollywood actor Benicio del Toro, who had an exchange with Fujio during his lifetime.

The 13th issue of the magazine is set to release on June 20.

Furthermore, the special issue #12 of Big Comic released on June 10, posted an illustration of Fujio on the cover. The 12th issue also features an essay on the 10-year running “Fujiko Fujio A & Saibara Rieko No Jinsei Kotowaza Omoshiro Man Jiten” manga.

The editorial department of Big Comic Original has also shared a message in regard to the project saying, “No matter what words you use or what kind of photos you arrange, it is not enough to praise Professor Fujiko Fujio A’s achievements. However, the life of Mr. A is still in the manga. The editorial department thought that it would be best to have a final episode for the sequel to ‘Manga Michi,’ which was serialized in the Big Comic Original special issue. I believe that if you look back on the Manga Michi that Dr. A has created, he will be more than happy”.

Manga Michi is an autobiographical manga work by Fujiko Fujiko and a drama work based on it. The author is Fujiko Fujio (A). It is a feature-length youth manga depicting the growth of two boys who aim to become manga artists. Including the sequel Ai … Shirisomeshi Koro ni … . It was the longest serialized work in the series by Fujio Fujiko, and the serialization of the series continued for a long period of 43 years, but it was completed in 2013.

Mangaka and Ninja Hatori creator Fujiko Fujio A was found deceased in his residence at Kawasaki on April 7 morning at the age of 88.

Along with Ninja Hatori and Doraemon, Abiko also created various successful manga series such as Kaibutsukun, Pro Golfer Saru, and Warau Salesman. The Ninja Hatori anime had its run from 1981 to 1987, 3 anime movies from 1982 to 1984, and a live-action movie in 2004. Kaibutsu-kun had 2 anime seasons with season 1 running from 1968 to 1969 and season 2 running from 1980 to 1982. Along with the anime series it also had 2 anime movies in 1981 and 1982.

The series Pro Golfer Saru had a TV anime special in 1982, an anime series running from 1985 to 1988 along with 2 anime movies in 1986 and 1987.

Warau Salesman had an anime series running from 1989 to 1992. The series was refurbished later on in 2017 as The Laughing Salesman new.
