With the successful box office track of the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train movie comes another great news. The manga and anime have won a Special Achievement Award. The award is given to series which has garnered fan following and attention, globally.
The Demon Slayer movie which was released earlier this year has broken all box office records in Japan. It has also been the highest-earning movie in Japan within a week.
Demon Slayer started serialising in February 2016 and ended in May 2020. It also received a 26 episode anime adaptation in April 2019. It was animated by the studio UFOTABLE and the animation and the fight sequences were critically acclaimed.
The manga has 100 million copies in circulation as of October 2020 both digitally and physically. This makes the series one of the top selling manga series of all time. It is also regarded as one of the best anime of the decade.
The music artist of Demon Slayer LiSA is also nominated for her song “Homura” which is also the theme song for the Mugen Train Movie.
The live airing of the award show will be available to view on TBS on December 30th, 2020
