Demon Slayer Mugen Train Causes Loss Of DVD Industry In Japan

The shrinkage of the animation video software market can be seen as a long-term trend.

The Japan Video Software Association released the sales figures for DVD/Blu-Ray sales for the first half of 2022. The sales were down by 19.7% year-on-year and garnered a revenue of 55.82 billion yen. The reason they sighted for this is the blockbuster hit movie Demon Slayer Mugen Train. It created a wave of watching movies in theatres than purchasing it as a DVD, says Japan Video Software Association.
