George Asakura, the creator of Dance Dance Danseur manga, announced on X that the series will be going on hiatus again following her second brain surgery.
Asakura revealed that she underwent craniotomy surgery in May last year for an unruptured cerebral aneurysm. She had another craniotomy earlier this year and was recently discharged from the hospital.
In her post, she humorously noted that she now looks “pretty badass—like Frankenstein” after the procedures.
While she did not specify when Dance Dance Danseur would resume serialization, Asakura apologized to fans for the break.
The series had gone on hiatus in May 2024 due to the surgery and resumed in September of the same year.
George Asakura launched Dance Dance Danseur manga in Shogakukan’s seinen manga magazine Weekly Big Comic Spirits in September 2015.
The first volume of the manga was released on Feb 12, 2016. As of November 12, 2024, twenty-nine volumes have been released.
An anime television series adaptation produced by MAPPA aired from April to June 2022.
