Crunchyroll announced the launch of a new digital manga app, Crunchyroll Manga, during Sony Group Corporation’s CES 2025 press conference.

The app is set to debut later in 2025 as a premium add-on to the existing service.

It will be available as a standalone app on iOS and Android at launch, with web browser support to follow. Initially rolling out in English in the United States and Canada, the app will later expand to include other language options and regional availability to cater to Crunchyroll’s global audience.

Details regarding the titles are yet to be revealed.

This is not Crunchyroll’s first foray into digital manga distribution. The company had previously launched a manga service in October 2013, offering simultaneous publication of several titles from publishers like Futabasha, Kodansha, Kadokawa Shoten, and Shonen Gahosha.

The service was available in 170 countries, except Japan, China, France, Germany and Italy.

However, the service faced challenges, including content removal and technical issues, leading to its discontinuation in December 2023.
